If you said something reasonable like, "stay indoors," or, "go swiming," then you don't know me very well. XD
Sunday it was 102 (without the heatindex) and we went to the zoo. Not just any zoo, but a brand new zoo, without any trees (for the people). This place was WAAAAAAAAY out in the country and then we had to go down a dirt road in a residential area to get there.
Why go through all this trouble you ask. Because this zoo is interactive. REAL interactive. The few animals you don't get to intreact with are the tigers and leopards (major duh factor). The boys and hubby got to feed little lories, pet kangaroos, sit among a troop of ringtailed lemurs. We learned that the lemurs hate birds and try to attack any on their island, even the ducks. The down side is that the zoo is still under construction and a lot of exibits are still empty or in progress.
At some places the only thing seperating the public from the giraffs was the fact that they was a thin strip of grass and the hole they stood in. Oh, walking on the grass is not allowed. I almost got into trouble for stepping on the grass to retrun a little frog to the pond. The staff allowed it since I was helping an animal. The staff keeps a close eye on people and WILL throw someone out for not obaying the rules. One lady told me that they have a list of people no longer allowed back in. This zoo doesn't play around.
It was fun. Outragously expensive, but fun.
we all left hot, tired, dehydrated and sunburned. I sweated so much I had salt stains on my shirt around the coller, sleaves and back. Hubby wiged and wouldn't let me drive. The first stop we made was for gator-aid, and so I could get a clean shirt out of the trunk. (Yes, I keep clean clothes on hand at all times. we never know what we will get into. XD)
Hubby spent the day practically forcing me to drink water and gator-aid. He kept grumbling at me. He isn't effected by the heat as much because he works in a hot enviorment. The plant is easily 90 degrees at night in the summer. He is pretty acclimated to heat. I used to be, but the stay home mom thing has softened me a bit. Oh well.
It was fun. We had fun, and expect a small photo dump.
